This is the 'papillosa' variant, with superb white tepuiesque tubercles and it grows to a huge size. How big? Who knows! Eventually it offsets. Large rebranched inflorescence. Possibly OK outdoors in best situation.

This is the smallest of all Haworthias and possibly the most endangered in habitat. Slowly forms cute tight clusters of hard dark green minutely tubercled unwindowed leaves. Avoid overwatering. Indoors only.

Described in 1970 this slowgrowing solitary miniature reaches only10cm diameter. Choice translucent leaves. Needs a deeper pot for its thick roots. Water sparingly in partial shade. Indoors only.

Wonderful miniature with 3 tight ranks of hard triangular pointed leaves vertically stacked and occasionally spiralling. A very slow grower but otherwise easy to look after in indirect light indoors or out of the rain outdoors.

Hechtias are succulent ground-dwelling desert bromeliads from Mexico to a little bit south of there. They can flower more than once per rosette! Allow dry periods, best in direct sun light. OK outdoors in mild areas.

Forms a tight spiny sphere of amazing blue leaves. To 1m diameter. Flowers come in a spectaculur panicle of white bells known as Our Lords Candle. Salt, wind, drought tolerant. Easy in a sunny position. Takes light frosts.

Lovely glaucous fan of thickened grey-green leaves in colder months arise from a huge spherical above ground bulb to 15 cm plus diameter. Gorgeous red-veined flowers in April and other months dependent on how confused it is.

This is the green form which grows wild alongside (and in fact siblings of) the purple optica 'rubra' in a very harsh hot coastal strip of Namibia. Of all the so-called Living Stones, these optica flower latest into winter and need some water through Autumn. However, they also need their summer water to arrive later than other Lithops species and in very restrained amounts too. Suited for bright windowsills but shade the pots to keep roots cool.
