The white milky sap contained in all Euphorbia species can be very irritating, especially in the eyes and the smallest amount can trigger a painful experience. Remedy: do NOT flush with water, it makes the pain worse! Instead, use medicinal liquid paraffin to sluice the eye, and slowly it will wash away the irritating substance. (We do not mean the fuel known sometimes as paraffin = kerosene).
