Opuntia santa-rita

Low-growing species with round colourful pads and few spines. Flowers in spring, yellow with stunning red centre. Cold hardy in well drained sunny area. Pads can become infused with purple tones if dry and cold.

3.Indoors OK, Outdoors OK in warm, well-drained position in mild areas.

Plant about 50cm high, pads about 10cm each.
The darling buds of September.....
...are followed by the gorgeous flowers of October.
Flower is really lovely.
The young pad has leaves, but not for long.
