Haemanthus coccinea

Two large leaves apppear in autumn from a buried bulb. Leaves die down in spring. In summer a gorgeous blood red flower appears miraculously from the ground. Bright light for good leaves, OK outdoors in mild areas.

7.Winter grower. Needs water in winter, not summer.

Pairs of leaves grow through winter, then die down before summer.....

.....in autumn the flowers emerge first....
