Aloe castanea

Tallest of the Bottlebrush Aloes, to 4m, branching basally eventually (apparently). Long thin twisting orange racemes point crazily outward in late winter. Fantastic plant, very happy outdoors, and best in the ground

2.Indoors OK, Outdoors OK, easy to grow.

Racemes are elegantly held, if a little crazy.
Dense orange racemes in winter.
The dark colour in these flowers is pure nectar. Birds like it but we don't.
Happy in our Auckland garden (in left foreground).
Some product at the nursery.
Monarch butterfly feeding on castanea nectar on13th August!
Big old plant, probably 25yo.
Great profile of branching.
