Alluaudia procera

Spiny columnar lemur ladders to 15m high. Small succulent leaves are vertical on old growth and horizontal on new growth, dropping off in winter. Easy potplant but outdoors only in perfect free-draining location.

3.Indoors OK, Outdoors OK in warm, well-drained position in mild areas.

Spiny, elegant, fascinating.
Vertical leaves all the way down to ground level.
Note that the first year leaves are horizontally disposed.
The base of the former Sandy Bay plant which was 5m tall when cut.
3.3m outdoors in our (now gone) display garden. this one now lives in a pot.
Big old plant holding its leaves in July (mid-winter).
If top gets damaged, cut it off and you will get lovely new tips.
