Imposing tree, eventually with dark massive trunk from flared base. Straight sharp narrow leaves festooned with fine hanging filaments, or threads, on the leaf edges. Grows well outdoors in New Zealand gardens.

3.Indoors OK, Outdoors OK in warm, well-drained position in mild areas.

A spectacular species.

… that the Auckland Botanic Garden sent to pick up the plants we gave them. We hope to say hello to it occasionally out at Manurewa.

This one was in the zone Transpower needed to put their trench through….

….so we took some last photos…

…..then trimmed off the lower leaves….

…..high enough that would allow us to put a strop around it….

…one last photo with its old mate Yucca rostrata…

… and then we got it loaded onto the truck….
